Présentation :

Sophie Thoyer is full professor in environmental and agricultural economics at Montpellier Supagro since 2007. She was head of the department of social, economic and management science until 2015. She is the president of the French association for rural economics (SFER) and a board member of Africa Rice, an international agricultural research organization pertaining to the CGIAR. Her current research area is on behavioural nudges and their use in the context of agri-environmental policies for the design of ecosystem services contracts and the adoption by farmers of environmentally-friendly techniques. She uses choice modelling approaches and experimental economics. She also has an extended knowledge of the Common Agricultural Policy and its evaluation. She is chief editor of a dedicated website on CAP reforms (https://www.supagro.fr/capeye/ ). She has supervised several studies and PhD students on irrigation water management, deforestation and the provision of ecosystem services by farmers.
